Imaddi Ravi Kumar, a resident of Visakhapatnam and trained as a cyber security analyst and ethical hacker, has been arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in large-scale online film piracy.
According to police reports, he is suspected of breaching OTT servers and uploading new films in HD quality to piracy websites such as iBomma and Bappam, which reportedly attract over 3.7 million monthly global visitors. Authorities claim that iBomma remains among the most-visited piracy platforms worldwide.
Investigators further allege that Ravi Kumar earned significant illegal income—running into hundreds of crores—through advertising and promotional deals linked to online betting companies hosted on these piracy platforms. During a raid at his Kukatpally residence yesterday, police reportedly seized ₹3 crore in cash.
Officials also stated that he had previously been questioned in connection with cybercrime cases in several states.
The CCS police from Basheerbagh produced the accused before the Nampally Court, which has remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. He has been shifted to Chanchalguda Jail pending further investigation.
