Jana Sena’s Dalli Govind Reddy Elected Deputy Mayor of Visakhapatnam After No-Confidence Motion

In a significant political shift for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Dalli Govind Reddy of the Jana Sena Party was elected as the new Deputy Mayor on May 20, 2025, following a successful no-confidence motion against the former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leadership.

The election marks a turning point in the local governance of Visakhapatnam, with the Jana Sena Party gaining increasing influence in the municipal landscape. The no-confidence motion, backed by key opposition members, led to the removal of the previous deputy mayor affiliated with YSRCP, citing dissatisfaction with administrative performance and lack of development initiatives.

Dalli Govind Reddy, known for his active role in civic issues and youth engagement, emphasized transparency, improved infrastructure, and public welfare as his top priorities. Speaking to the media shortly after the election, he stated, “This victory is not just political — it’s a mandate from the people who want change and accountability. I will work tirelessly to uphold the trust placed in me.”

With the upcoming civic projects and the city’s development at a critical juncture, stakeholders are closely watching how this leadership change will impact GVMC’s functioning and project execution in the coming months.

The election also signals potential shifts in political dynamics ahead of the state elections, as Jana Sena continues to strengthen its presence in urban Andhra Pradesh.
