Missing Assamese Girl Found in Visakhapatnam After 37 Hours

A 13-year-old Assamese girl, who vanished from Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, was successfully located in Visakhapatnam 37 hours later.

The girl, who had gone missing after a family dispute, was discovered by members of a Malayali association on the Tambaram-Santragachi Express.

According to the association members, they found the girl exhausted and seated among a group of boys in a crowded berth. Initially, the group claimed the girl was with them, but they retracted their statement upon further questioning. The Railway Protection Force has since taken custody of the girl.

The incident began when the girl left her home in Kazhakoottam around 10 am following an argument with her mother. The family did not report her disappearance immediately, and despite extensive efforts by the state police throughout the night, her whereabouts remained unknown.

Reports indicate that the girl first boarded a bus to Thampanoor before catching a train bound for Kanyakumari. Autorickshaw drivers in Kanyakumari reportedly saw her, but she later managed to board a train to Chennai.

Surveillance footage from Egmore Railway Station helped track her movements, though by this point, 30 hours had elapsed.

Members of the Malayali association in Visakhapatnam had been actively searching for the girl on arriving trains. The girl's parents expressed relief and happiness upon her recovery.

Over the phone, the girl's mother revealed that her daughter was upset due to the earlier altercation at home.
