Navy Day Celebrations in Visakhapatnam Rescheduled Amidst Cyclone Threat

In response to the looming threat of Cyclone Michaung, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has decided to postpone the Navy Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam.

The Operational Demo, showcasing frontline naval ships, aircraft, and submarines, originally slated for December 4, will now take place on December 10.

The decision was announced by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the ENC. The event will be graced by the presence of Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer as the chief guest.

Vice Admiral Pendharkar also shared insights into future plans, revealing that the ENC is gearing up to host the second edition of Exercise MILAN at Visakhapatnam in February 2024.

This international exercise will witness the participation of nearly 50 friendly countries. MILAN 2024 is set to feature an array of activities, including an International Maritime Seminar, table-top exercises, a demonstration of the Indian Navy’s Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel, a multilateral exercise at sea, a city parade, and various social and cultural events.

Highlighting the significance of MILAN 2024, Vice Admiral Pendharkar mentioned, “Indian Navy plans to deploy both its Aircraft Carriers, Vikramaditya and Vikrant, to the Eastern Seaboard in Visakhapatnam during MILAN 24.”

The naval leadership is committed to ensuring the safety and success of these events, taking into consideration the prevailing weather conditions.
