Visakhapatnam: In a shocking development, police have arrested nine individuals in connection with an alleged plot to sell a five-month-old baby girl near Daspalla Hills.

The arrest follows an investigation into suspicious activities involving a lab technician and a ward boy from the CT scan department at KG Hospital.

The lab technician reportedly offered ₹2 lakh to a couple in exchange for their infant. The scheme unraveled when authorities received a tip-off, leading to the rescue of the baby girl. B

oth the infant and her mother were taken to KG Hospital for medical attention.

During the operation, police confiscated two blank cheques and six mobile phones from the accused. A case has been filed under Section 143(4) of the BNS Act for child trafficking. The police are investigating the possibility of additional individuals being involved in the illegal activity.
