Heavy rain and strong winds associated with the recent weather system caused damage to electricity infrastructure across several districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh. The AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) deployed personnel and machinery to restore disrupted power supply.

According to APEPDCL, 8,87,757 electricity services were affected, with disruptions reported in 1,468 villages. By Thursday, power had been restored to 8,30,679 services and 1,238 villages. Restoration work continued in the remaining affected areas.

As of 5 p.m. on Thursday, 122 of 127 affected 33-kV substations had been restored, while 99 of 111 damaged 33-kV feeders had been repaired. Restoration of 11-kV and low-tension lines, poles and distribution transformers was also under way.

 

The preliminary assessment has estimated the damage to the power infrastructure at approximately ₹2.51 crore. APEPDCL had made advance preparations before the weather system affected the region, deploying additional staff, vehicles, cranes, pole-drilling machines, poles and distribution transformers for restoration operations.
