Protecting Water Bodies Is Everyone’s Responsibility: PS Naidu Calls for Collective Action in Vizag

Protecting water bodies requires collective action from citizens, community organisations and government authorities, State Information Commissioner PS Naidu said during a reservoir cleaning drive at Meghadrigedda Reservoir in Visakhapatnam.

Naidu expressed concern over the growing problem of water pollution caused by plastic waste, chemicals and garbage being dumped into reservoirs. He warned that such waste can contaminate drinking water, threaten aquatic life and create risks to public health. He also stressed the importance of public awareness and responsible waste disposal.

The cleaning initiative was organised by Simhadri TMT, Hima Humanitarian Association and local youth. Members of the association, company representatives, NSS students from Aditya Degree College and other volunteers participated in removing litter from the reservoir and cleaning nearby areas.

Naidu encouraged people to take an active role in conservation initiatives, highlighting how cooperation among NGOs, youth groups and local communities can help protect water resources for future generations.

The initiative highlights the importance of keeping reservoirs clean and preventing waste from entering water bodies that support communities and the environment.
