Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, has introduced a revised promotion policy for its executives. The policy is effective retrospectively from June 30, 2026, and was approved by the RINL Board during its 387th meeting on September 21, 2026.
Under the revised system, executive grades have been organised into clusters from Cluster A to Cluster E, extending up to the E-8 grade. Promotions within and across these clusters will take into account performance appraisal ratings, cumulative credit points, length of service and structured interview assessments.
For the promotion cycle effective June 30, 2026, the Board has approved certain one-time exemptions, including a waiver of the minimum residual service requirement under Clause 4.3. An extended panel has also been provided for E-7 to E-8 promotions for executives due to retire by May 31, 2027.
The revised policy also provides for mandatory online computer-based tests and prescribed training programmes as prerequisites for certain higher-grade executive promotions from June 30, 2028. RINL's existing policy framework includes separate rules covering executive promotions and performance appraisal.
