Visakhapatnam received heavy rainfall for the second consecutive day on September 23, 2026, as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal affected the north Andhra Pradesh coast. The weather system brought persistent rain and strong winds to the region.

Minor landslips and incidents of trees falling were reported in parts of the city. The district administration inspected vulnerable locations and stepped up monitoring to respond to rain-related emergencies.

 

The India Meteorological Department had warned of heavy rainfall and strong winds along the coastal areas as the deep depression moved towards the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coast. Visakhapatnam recorded 3.2 cm of rainfall between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on September 23, according to State government data cited by The Times of India.
