Sanction of 3 New Projects by Railway Board to Waltair division
Recently railway board has sanctioned Rs 640 crores worth THREE important and long-pending infrastructure projects for the Visakhapatnam complex of Waltair Division which will help in the de-bottlenecking of train operations.
Apart from these projects, the Division was also in need of another very important de-clogging work, waiting for many years, for expansion of its infrastructure i.e. 3rd & 4th line between Visakhapatnam-Gopalapatnam, which was highlighted at various levels by Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair. This got approved by the Railway Board and Rs 159.47 crores was sanctioned for this project today.
Speaking on the occasion DRM Shri Anup Satpathy said that the sanctioned project will enhance the throughput of the trains running through Waltair Division and Visakhapatnam in particular, reduce detention, reduce running time, increase speed, and can help in the seamless movement of coaching as well as goods trains. All these projects will greatly solve the most important issues of congestion in the Visakhapatnam area. There is considerable excitement in the Division as all these projects were approved by the Ministry of Railways in one go, he added. With this about Rs 800 crore in infrastructure projects were sanctioned for the Visakhapatnam complex.
The Four New projects sanctioned in this connection are
a) Sanction of 3rd and 4th line between Duvvada- Simhachalam North stations (an amount of Rs 302.25 crores was sanctioned for the length of 20.543 Kms)
b) Sanction of 3rd and 4th lines between Vadlapudi-Gate Junction cabin including tie line between Gangavaram Port-Visakhapatnam steel plant ( Rs 154.28 Crores sanctioned for the 12.04Kms stretch 3rd and 4th line)
c) Sanction of rail flyover project between Pendurthi and Simhachalam Nort stns to avoid surface crossing at Simhachalam (Rs 183.65 crores sanctioned for the flyover project)
d) Sanction of 3rd and 4th lines between Visakhapatnam- Gopalapatnam ( an amount of Rs 159.47 Crores sanctioned for 15.31Kms)
DRM Waltair thanked the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Railway Minister, and the Railway Board for this huge and unprecedented support for the Waltair Division.
