Single-use plastic items that are banned by GVMC

The GVMC is going the extra mile to restrict the use of plastic, whether it is single or reusable, as it is harmful to the environment. People have been advised to stop plastic usage and look for eco-friendly alternatives. NGOs are being encouraged to produce eco-friendly bags to replace plastic covers.

Here is the list of Single-use plastic items that are banned by GVMC:

#1 Plastic or Non-Woven Carry Bags
#2 Disposable plastic straws and stirrers
#3 Disposable plastic spoons and forks
#4 Disposable plastic plates
#5 Disposable plastic bowls

#6 Disposable plastic cups
#7 Polystyrene Food Plates, cups and bowls
#8 Partitioned plates with covers (LDPE & HDPE)
#9 Plastic bags or Flex Banners

The use of single-use and non-biodegradable plastic in the city will attract fines. A complete ban on plastic carry bags and other single-use plastic items below 75 microns thickness have been implemented.
