Special Arrangements for Home Voting for Elderly Citizens in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: The electoral process in Visakhapatnam district is proceeding smoothly, with transparent nomination procedures adhering to Election Commission guidelines, according to Dr. A Mallikarjuna, the district collector.
Dr. Mallikarjuna noted, "Within the Vizag Lok Sabha constituency's assembly segments, there are a total of 101 candidates vying for 134 seats, and the administrative machinery is fully prepared for the elections."
K Fakeerappa, the joint police commissioner of Vizag city, highlighted the enforcement of election regulations, revealing, "We have confiscated unaccounted cash totaling ₹13.41 crore and registered 82 cases of election norm violations. Additionally, 71 employees have faced disciplinary action for breaching regulations."
In accordance with Election Commission regulations, home voting will be conducted for senior citizens aged over 85 and individuals with more than 40% disability on May 7 and 8. Collector Mallikarjuna emphasized, "In case individuals are unable to vote on these designated dates, they will have another opportunity on May 9."
Collector Mallikarjuna further stated, "A total of 1,523 people have applied for home voting in the district, and all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate this process."
