Tribals in Visakhapatnam Protest for Road Connectivity: Riding Horses to Highlight Transportation Woes

Residents of Madrebu village in Anantgiri Mandal, Visakhapatnam district, took to a unique form of protest on Sunday, riding horses through the forests to demand road connectivity to their villages.

They threatened to boycott the upcoming May 13 elections if the government fails to address their transportation needs.

Despite claims of funds being allocated for the welfare of Adivasi communities, the reality on the ground seems different. Govind Raju, a tribal association leader,

Highlighted the significance of horses in their daily lives, serving as cargo buses and ambulances due to the lack of proper infrastructure.

Raju emphasized the challenges faced by tribals, including inadequate medical facilities and the absence of roads for emergency access to hospitals.

This innovative protest comes at a crucial time as Andhra Pradesh gears up for the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on May 13.

Former MP Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi, contesting on the YSRCP ticket from Visakhapatnam, stressed the city's potential for economic growth and highlighted government initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged.

As the political landscape evolves, the concerns of marginalized communities like the tribals remain a focal point in the state's electoral discourse.
