Varanasi-Sambalpur Express Set to Extend Services to Visakhapatnam
In a significant development aimed at meeting the growing demands of the people and fulfilling a promise made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to enhance rail services in the southern and western districts of Odisha, the Varanasi-Sambalpur Express is poised to extend its operations to Visakhapatnam, according to an official statement released by the railways.
The extension of the Varanasi-Sambalpur-Varanasi 18312/11 Bi-weekly Express has received approval, although an official date for the commencement of service to Visakhapatnam is yet to be announced.
For years, residents of Rayagada, Balangir, Bargarh, and other areas in the region have expressed their grievances regarding inadequate train connectivity.
This development represents a significant step forward in addressing this issue and fulfilling the aspirations of the people of South Odisha to connect with Banaras (Varanasi).
The demand for this rail link gained prominence during Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's visit to these regions, including his Jan-ashirvaad Yatra, during which he assured the residents that their connectivity needs would be met.
The extension of this rail link holds immense potential to become a lifeline for the people in Western and Southern Odisha, serving a variety of purposes. Primarily, it addresses the pressing need for easier access to quality healthcare services, as many residents from these areas frequently travel to hospitals in Visakhapatnam for healthcare of high standards.
Moreover, with Visakhapatnam emerging as a thriving educational hub, students from this region will now have convenient access to various educational institutions in the city. This development also holds promise for fostering new business and trade partnerships, thereby contributing to economic growth.
The extended train service between Sambalpur and Visakhapatnam signifies a significant leap in connectivity, opening doors to a multitude of opportunities and linking two vital regions. This extension will not only benefit the Southern and Western districts of Odisha but also the North Andhra Region and the interior districts of Chhattisgarh.
The ripple effect of this initiative will extend to intermediate connectivity, making travel to crucial junctions like Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Hatia, Ranchi, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur much more convenient.
The entire region is poised to experience a surge in economic activity and connectivity, creating unprecedented opportunities for growth and development.
