Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat flagged off the ISVIR Public Health Awareness Walkathon organised by the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR) as part of the ISVIR Midterm Complication Meet 2026 in Visakhapatnam. The event aimed to raise public awareness about vascular diseases, preventive healthcare, and the benefits of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
The walkathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors, medical students, healthcare professionals, Vizag Runners, and members of various voluntary organisations. Participants walked through the city carrying messages that highlighted the importance of maintaining vascular health and adopting preventive healthcare practices.
Addressing the gathering, MP Sribharat said Visakhapatnam has emerged as a major healthcare hub in the region but stressed the need to further strengthen super-speciality medical services and healthcare infrastructure. He also highlighted the growing importance of Interventional Radiology, noting that minimally invasive, image-guided procedures are transforming the treatment of vascular diseases and several other complex medical conditions.
The organisers said the awareness initiative reflects ISVIR's commitment to promoting public health education alongside scientific advancement. Officials expressed hope that such programmes would encourage people to undergo regular health check-ups, seek early medical attention, and adopt healthier lifestyles to reduce the burden of vascular diseases.
