Visakhapatnam's D Shreya Makes History: Representing India at WDSF Asian Breaking Championship
In a groundbreaking achievement, D Shreya, known as Bgirl Shreya in the dance circuit, has etched her name in the annals of Andhra Pradesh's sports history.
Hailing from the vibrant city of Visakhapatnam, she has clinched the distinction of becoming the very first Breaking Athlete from the state to secure a coveted spot in the National Breaking Team.
This incredible feat led her to proudly represent India at the esteemed "WDSF Asian Breaking Championship," a resounding testament to her dedication and talent. The championship unfolded in Hangzhou, China, on the 1st and 2nd of July in 2023.
A total of 13 countries participated in the enthralling two-day Breaking event, meticulously organized by the collaboration between the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) and the Chinese Dancesport Federation (CDSF).
Beyond its inherent prestige, the championship held even greater significance as a qualifier for the much-anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics.
D Shreya was one of the five chosen members of the Indian team, which comprised three Bboys and two Bgirls. Alongside fellow athletes Ramesh Yadav (Bboy Tornado), Suraj Raut (Bboy Suraj), Ankit Kushwah (Bboy Antique), and Simran Ranga (Bgirl Glib), she embraced the responsibility of representing the nation with grace and skill.
In the fiercely competitive Pre-selection round of the Breaking - Adult Bgirl Category, Shreya secured a commendable Rank #24 out of the 44 talented dancers. Only the top 16 Ranked Bgirls were bestowed the honor of competing on the illustrious Day 2 of the Championship.
