Vizag Cyber Crime Police busts a job racket
The Vizag Cyber Crime Police have busted an online job racket and arrested 6 fraudsters. An investigation was carried out based on a complaint launched by a victim on October 13. The Victim large the complaint stating she has lured Rs 12.83 lakhs, and the fraudsters offered online part-time jobs to get huge amounts per day. In Visakhapatnam City, a total of 78 online job fraud cases were registered in 2022. The total amount lost by the victims stood at Rs 2.45 crores.
Police took into custody six fraudsters belonging to the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan. Another 3 accused are on the run and police have launched a manhunt to nab them. 30 mobile phones 20 SIM cards 26 ATM cards 37 bank checks were seized and an amount of around Rs 5 lakh in a Yes bank account was frozen.
Online Job scams were increasing in the country. Fraud stars have been using innovative methods to defraud job seekers. So, the Reserve Bank of India is also alerting people not to fall prey to these job scams. With the increased speed and ease of doing financial transactions, the number of frauds reported every year in retail financial transactions is also on the rise. It released a booklet on online job fraud and precautions that the common people should take while applying for any job whether in India or abroad.
