In preparation for the grand celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) have announced comprehensive logistics and security measures across the city.
To ensure smooth transportation and public safety during the large-scale event—which is expected to host thousands of participants including dignitaries and potentially the Prime Minister—traffic restrictions will be strictly enforced across key routes leading to the event venues.
Drone operations have been strictly prohibited, with officials citing security concerns and crowd management as key reasons. Authorities have warned that any unauthorized drone activity will be met with legal action.
Further enhancing surveillance, CCTV cameras have been installed at critical junctions and event zones. This move is aimed at maintaining law and order, managing traffic flow, and ensuring real-time monitoring of the event.
To reduce vehicular congestion and encourage eco-friendly transport, 50 electric buses will be rolled out across major pickup and drop-off locations. These buses will operate on a loop, making it easier for participants to reach the event venues without contributing to traffic snarls or air pollution.
GVMC officials have urged residents and participants to cooperate with the new guidelines and use public transport wherever possible. With these proactive steps, Visakhapatnam is setting the stage for a safe, organized, and environmentally conscious celebration of Yoga Day.
