Vizag Steel Plays Vital Role in Cochin Shipyard's Mega Dry Dock Project

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), a key subsidiary of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), has played a crucial role in the successful completion of the dry dock project at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).

This significant maritime infrastructure initiative was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17 of this year.

According to a spokesperson from RINL-VSP, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant made a substantial contribution by supplying more than 29,000 metric tons of steel for the CSL's dry dock project.

The project itself utilized an impressive 70,000 metric tons of steel, a quantity exceeding 9.5 times that used in the construction of the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The collaboration between Vizag Steel and Cochin Shipyard highlights the vital role played by the Indian steel industry in supporting major infrastructure projects, contributing to the nation's progress and technological advancement in the maritime sector.
