In a visionary move aimed at enhancing the scenic beauty of Visakhapatnam's coastline, the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has taken a substantial step by announcing plans for the 'Ocean Deck' project.

This ambitious initiative involves the creation of a captivating structure along the city's beach road, with tenders being floated for its realization.

With an estimated value of around Rs 8 crore, the 'Ocean Deck' project holds the promise of transforming the city's coastal landscape into a mesmerizing attraction. The project entails the construction of a dynamic G+1 structure, spanning a total length of 91 meters. Remarkably, while 45 meters of this expanse will grace the sandy shores, the remaining 46 meters will elegantly stretch out over the azure waters of the sea.

Recent deliberations within the VMRDA's board meeting resulted in unanimous approval of the project proposal, marking a significant stride towards its implementation. The project's innovative design envisions a hotel occupying the ground floor, offering a unique beachfront experience to its patrons. Additionally, the upper level of the structure will host an awe-inspiring viewpoint that extends out into the sea, providing an unobstructed and panoramic view of the vast ocean expanse.

Taking inspiration from two successful undertakings in Mumbai, the VMRDA seeks to recreate the concept of unfettered ocean vistas through the 'Ocean Deck' project. A distinctive element of the project involves situating the viewpoint atop a rocky outcrop amidst the sea, offering an unparalleled connection with the natural elements.

To seamlessly link this ocean-bound viewpoint with the coastal structure, an enchanting glass bridge will be crafted, creating a captivating fusion of architecture and nature.

With a target completion timeline of nine months from the contract award, the project is poised for efficient execution. Notably, a similar viewing deck project at Dadar Chowpatty in Mumbai, realized at an approximate cost of 6.1 crore, garnered immense popularity and was unveiled to the public in 2022, becoming an instant sensation among beachgoers

 The VMRDA anticipates that the 'Ocean Deck' project will similarly enthrall tourists and locals, thereby enhancing the city's appeal as a tourist destination.
