3 New Ropeway projects have been proposed in and around Visakhapatnam

This initiative will promote tourism and bring access to an ecofriendly mode of travelling. Apart from this, there 23 other ropeway  projects proposed in Andhra Pradesh.

Under the Parvatamala scheme, the Central Government will provide Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for these projects. The three proposed projects are Galikonda Viewpoint to Katika Waterfall in Araku, Ganbheram hill to Ganbheram dam, and Lambasingi Cloud Viewpoint Foothill to Araku Hilltop. The Araku and Lambasingi are top-rated tourist attractions in the state and receive atleast 20,000 tourists every day during winter.

The Central Government is focusing on ropeways in congested cities where conventional modes of transport would not work. And the ropeways are most likely to be built under the Make In India initiative to curb the high construction costs and make this accessible to the commoner.

In the entire Andhra Pradesh state, 26 new ropeway projects are proposed. The East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Chittoor, Ananthapur, Kurnool, Vijayawada, and Vizianagaram regions have received atleast three to four projects each.
