Andhra Pradesh Embarks on Major Railway Station Redevelopment Under Amrit Bharat Scheme.
In a significant move to enhance railway infrastructure, the Indian Railways has initiated the redevelopment of 73 stations across Andhra Pradesh under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This ambitious project aims to modernize stations, improve passenger amenities, and bolster connectivity within the state.
The redevelopment project is backed by a substantial investment of ₹2,051 crore. Additionally, the Railway Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 has allocated a record ₹9,417 crore to Andhra Pradesh, underscoring the government's commitment to strengthening the state's railway infrastructure.
Prominent stations such as Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Tirupati, and Rajahmundry are at the forefront of this transformation. Collectively, these stations are receiving an investment of ₹1,132.43 crore. The redevelopment efforts focus on enhancing passenger facilities, ensuring seamless connectivity, and promoting sustainable practices.
Launched in February 2023, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is an ongoing mission by the Indian Railways to redevelop 1,275 stations nationwide. The scheme emphasizes continuous development with a long-term approach, involving the preparation of master plans and their phased implementation. It also aligns with other key government initiatives such as BharatNet, One Station One Product, and Make in India, aiming to create a holistic improvement in the nation's railway infrastructure.
