Andhra Pradesh Forest Department Adopts Van App for Resource Recording
Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Forest Department has initiated a new digital method for recording forest resources using a specialized application known as the Van app.
This innovative approach has been first implemented in the Chintapalli forest division, marking a significant shift from the traditional manual process of creating management and working plans every ten years.
The Van app is designed to comprehensively record various forest resources, including data on plantation, wildlife, water, soil, and their respective protection measures, as well as the growing stock.
This model is set to be expanded across all 33 divisions of the Forest Department throughout Andhra Pradesh.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Chintapalli, Suryanarayana, stated that all forest divisions will utilize the Van app to document their resources. The collected data will then be sent to the state office, where a state-level committee will review it before forwarding it to the central government. This new system ensures that the working plan will be implemented in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations provided by the central government.
This digital transformation is expected to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of forest resource management in Andhra Pradesh, contributing to better conservation and sustainable use of forest resources.
