CCTV Installation Mandated for All Collectorates and Revenue Offices

Visakhapatnam: In response to the recent fire incident at the Madanapalli sub-collector's office, the government has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in all district collectorates, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) offices, and tahsildar offices to protect valuable revenue records.

Last week, a suspicious fire at the Madanapalli sub-collector’s office destroyed crucial revenue documents. Preliminary investigations by the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) suggested that the fire was not accidental but deliberate.

This has prompted immediate action from district collectors to enhance the security of revenue records across all related departments.

Following directives from the Land Administration Commissioner, district collectors are now enlisting the help of Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) to bolster security at various revenue offices, particularly focusing on the record rooms.

RDOs are actively monitoring the implementation of these security measures, offering guidance to tahsildars under their jurisdiction.

Plans are also being developed to assign night watchmen to these offices to ensure round-the-clock security.

These measures aim to prevent future incidents and safeguard the integrity of vital revenue records, ensuring their protection from potential threats.
