Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to Shift Operations to Visakhapatnam on Dasara

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has officially set the stage for a significant shift in the state administration.

During a recent cabinet meeting, it was announced that the government's operations would commence in Visakhapatnam from the auspicious occasion of Dasara.

This decision comes after the Chief Minister had repeatedly mentioned his intention to administer from Visakhapatnam in the past few months.

The progress towards this shift is becoming evident as construction work at the Rushikonda site, comprising four blocks, nears completion.

In addition to the construction of the buildings, infrastructure development is in full swing. BT roads are being laid around the premises, and a power substation is under construction at Rushikonda. This substation will support the Vangi, Kalinga, Gajapathi, and Vizianagaram blocks.

Since the project's inception, YSRCP ministers and MLAs have consistently referred to it as a tourist project situated on the hills. However, the nature of the construction work on the hills remains to be clarified.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has formed a committee involving environmentalists in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against construction activities at Rushikonda, allegedly in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone norms.

Back in August, IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath had hinted at a Dasara surprise for the people of Visakhapatnam, indicating the Chief Minister's impending move.

YSRCP North Andhra coordinator YV Subba Reddy has stated that the Chief Minister eagerly awaits the resolution of legal hurdles before shifting to the city.

Throughout the project's development, the ruling party has maintained a tight veil of secrecy, restricting information and access to opposition leaders and visitors.

Notably, access to the construction site at Rushikonda has been restricted despite efforts by leaders like Jana Sena Party chief K Pawan Kalyan, TDP members, and CPI national secretary K Narayana.

With the Chief Minister's announced intention to shift to Visakhapatnam, district officials are now working diligently to expedite the project's completion. The forthcoming Dasara heralds a significant transition for the state administration.
