Dr Ajit Pathak and Dr PLK Murthy Elected as PRSI President and Secretary General, Marking a New Chapter in Indian Public Relations



New Delhi, 24th June 2023: The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) witnessed a momentous occasion as Dr Ajit Pathak and Dr PLK Murthy emerged victorious in the elections for the esteemed positions of President and Secretary General respectively, for the term 2023-2025.

The announcement, made by Mr Subhash Sood, the election officer, concluded the PRSI annual general body meeting held at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi on Saturday.

The election results are as follows:

  • Dr. Ajit Pathak (Delhi) - National President
  • Dr. P.L.K. Murthy (Visakhapatnam) - Secretary General
  • Sh. Dilip Chauhan (Ahmedabad) - Secretary Treasurer
  • Smt. Munawar Sultana Majumdar (Guwahati) - Vice President (East)
  • Sh. S.P. Singh (Nagpur) - Vice President (West)
  • Sh. Narendra Mehta (Varanasi) - Vice President (North)
  • Sh. U.S. Sarma (Visakhapatnam) - Vice President (South)

With the exception of the Vice President (South) position, which witnessed a closely contested election, all other candidates were elected unopposed. In the NVP South election, Mr US Sharma secured victory with 27 votes, surpassing Mr VSR Naidu's 18 votes by a significant margin of 9 votes.


Expressing his gratitude to the National Committee for entrusting him with the position of President once again, Dr Ajit Pathak pledged to dedicate his efforts towards the professional upliftment of the PRSI. As an experienced professional in the field of public relations, Dr Pathak brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. Dr PLK Murthy, elected as the Secretary General, also holds a prominent position within the PRSI leadership.
