Dr. D Purandeswari, BJP AP State President Writes Letter to Rajnath Singh Defence Minister

The runway at Vishakhapatnam airport is due for resurfacing every ten years, and the last resurfacing was carried out in 2009. However, due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, the resurfacing was postponed until now.

The Navy, which oversees the airport, has now decided to undertake the resurfacing from 9 PM until 8 AM, necessitating a night shutdown for approximately five months, which will disrupt night services.

This decision would affect the operations of 12 air services, including Singapore Airlines, which not only connects passengers to Singapore but also serves as a gateway to other countries. Moreover, flights to Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Pune will also be affected by these closure times.
