Visakhapatnam: On August 4, 2024, two tragic drowning incidents occurred in Visakhapatnam. Tragic incidents claimed the lives of two individuals in separate drowning cases on Monday. 

In the first incident, 20-year-old engineering student D. Neeranjan drowned in the Gambhiram reservoir under Anandapuram police station limits while playing with friends.

In the first incident, D Neeranjan (20), an engineering student from Palasa, Srikakulam, studying in Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam, drowned while celebrating Friendship Day at Gambhiram Gedda in Anandapuram Mandal.

Neeranjan, who was enjoying an outing with five friends, accidentally slipped and fell into the reservoir.

In a similar incident, 11-year-old A. Praveen Kumar drowned in the RK Beach locality.

Despite heroic efforts by his friends and local farmers who rushed to the scene, Neeranjan's body was eventually recovered by firefighters after a prolonged search. The loss has deeply affected his family, including his grieving parents, Doki Srinivasa Rao and family.

In a separate incident, A Praveen Kumar (11) drowned at RK Beach. Both incidents have cast a shadow over the community, with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding these tragic events. 

CI T V Thirupathirao reported that Neeranjan's body was sent to Bhimili Government Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact causes of these tragic drownings.
