Enhanced Safety Measures for Ganesh Idol Immersion in Visakhapatnam

In an effort to ensure the safety of the public during the upcoming idol immersion festival in Visakhapatnam, the city police, in collaboration with the fisheries department, has taken proactive measures.

They are set to deploy a team of 40 proficient swimmers at various beaches designated for idol immersion locations across the city.

The idol immersion festivities are scheduled to commence on September 18th in Vizag city and are expected to continue until September 28th.

In order to facilitate a smooth and secure immersion process, authorities are taking additional precautions, including the installation of CCTV cameras, the placement of barricades for public safety, and other necessary safety measures.

Among the designated immersion sites, RK Beach and Jodugullapalem Beach are anticipated to witness the highest number of idol immersions. To further streamline the process, the district administration has been actively encouraging Ganesh mandals to opt for smaller idols to facilitate easier immersion.

The city police have identified over 10 specific beach areas where the public will be permitted to perform Ganesh idol immersions this year. Organizers are required to inform the police about their intended route map and immersion location in advance. It's important to note that idol immersions will not be allowed after 11 pm, as emphasized by the police.

In 2019, approximately 2,500 Ganesh pandals were erected in Vizag city. However, this number declined in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions. This year, the police anticipate that around 1,000 Ganesh pandals, including some large ones, will be set up in Vizag city, ushering in the festive spirit while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all participants.
