Everything you need to know about Araku Coffee Visakhapatnam

Hilly terrains, organic soil, and good monsoon in the Araku region facilitate the plantation of coffee, which is the favourite for many Vizagites. The hills of eastern ghats receive plenty of rainfall during the monsoon season which makes it a suitable place for coffee cultivation.

Araku coffee is considered one of the finest coffee in India. This coffee flavour is known for its rich aroma, and is recognised globally. The coffee grounds have gained a massive demand in the market both domestically and internationally.

Araku is densely populated by various tribes, who cultivate coffee. Here one can get a brand of organic coffee that was initially noted by the first tribal farmers. The main goal of introducing Araku Coffee was to wean tribals away from forest clearance for shifting farming (Podu) by providing them with year-round work.

This coffee has eventually turned out to be the favourite for many people in Visakhapatnam and the neighbouring towns. The Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (APFDC) was entrusted with the upkeep of these coffee cultivations. From 1960 to 1978, the APFDC raised coffee as an under crop on a total of 1296 hectares of area. They later started another set of coffee plantations in an area of 2714 hectares during 1979 and 1984.

Araku Coffee has bagged "Flavours of India - The Fine Cup Award” several times. This coffee carries a rich aroma that makes it the favourite for many caffeine addicts. The flavour has reached many, as it is the single largest coffee producer in Andhra Pradesh.
