In a groundbreaking move aimed at enhancing the passenger experience and generating non-fare revenue, the first-ever Rail Coach Restaurant (RCR) in Odisha has officially opened its doors at the Rayagada railway station.

This visionary project, awarded to Keerthi Motors through an open tender for a duration of 5 years, promises to revolutionize train travel by offering a unique dining experience to both railway passengers and the general public, all while contributing to the station's aesthetic appeal.

The Rail Coach Restaurant, ingeniously located within a previously unserviceable AC coach, has undergone extensive interior modifications to cater to the needs of its diverse clientele. 

 Covering an impressive 110 square meters, it boasts a comfortable and air-conditioned dining environment complete with plush luxury sofa chairs. With the capacity to accommodate up to 42 people simultaneously, the restaurant ensures that everyone can enjoy its array of culinary delights, including tiffins and meals, available round the clock.

What sets this establishment apart is its remarkable versatility. The Rail Coach Restaurant can be reserved for special events, making it an ideal and convenient venue choice for birthdays, kitty parties, and more.

Divisional Railway Manager Shri Saurabh Prasad, speaking at the launch, expressed his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking initiative by the Waltair Division of East Coast Railways. He emphasized that the project's objective is not solely to elevate the passenger experience but also to harness railway infrastructure creatively for generating additional revenue.
