Flying High: Visakhapatnam Airport Reports 10.19% Passenger Growth in FY 2023-24



Visakhapatnam Airport has soared to new heights, recording a remarkable 10.19% increase in passenger traffic during the fiscal year 2023–24, compared to the previous year.

APATA Team & Airport Advisory committee members O Naresh Kumar, K Kumar Raja, D S Varma said,

The surge in footfall underscores the airport's growing significance as a key transportation hub in the region, catering to the rising demands of travelers.

In line with its commitment to enhancing the passenger experience, Visakhapatnam Airport introduces new facilities, including in-line baggage screening (ILBS) and Digi Yatra services. These initiatives aim to streamline the travel process by linking boarding passes to Aadhaar and physical data.

Currently operational in 13 airports, Digi Yatra will soon be available at Visakhapatnam airport to simplify air travel for passengers.


Exciting developments continue with the introduction of new flight services. Starting April 26, 2024, travelers can enjoy a new destination connection to Malaysia, expanding international travel options from Visakhapatnam.

Additionally, recent flight expansions include services between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, with convenient departure and arrival timings facilitating seamless travel between the two cities. Furthermore, a new flight route from Visakhapatnam to Bangkok commenced operations from April 9, 2024, enhancing connectivity to international destinations.

These advancements reaffirm Visakhapatnam Airport's commitment to providing superior services and fostering connectivity, further solidifying its role as a vital transportation hub in Andhra Pradesh.
