Four Die Amid Diarrhoea Outbreak in Vizianagaram



Vizianagaram: Four people have lost their lives in Gurla mandal, Vizianagaram district, following complications related to an outbreak of diarrhoea. Another 103 individuals are currently receiving treatment for the illness.

The deceased were identified as Tondrangi Ramayamma (60), Sarika Pentaiah (65), Kalishetty Seethamma (45), and Paidamma (50).


While the direct cause of death was not diarrhoea, the victims suffered from co-morbid conditions such as septic shock, acute diabetes, cardiac arrest, bronchial asthma, and kidney failure, according to District Medical and Health Officer Bhaskar.

Currently, 10 individuals remain hospitalised, while the 103 others affected by diarrhoea are reported to have stabilised. In response to the outbreak, authorities have set up a medical camp in the area, with 40 medical staff, including 10 doctors, to ensure proper care and management of the situation.
