Visakhapatnam: In a significant step to support IT professionals working at Rushikonda IT Hills, the state government has reintroduced free RTC bus services.
The initiative was officially launched on October 21, 2024, by Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Visakhapatnam MP Sribharat during a flag-off ceremony at the Infosys campus.
The newly introduced bus routes will depart from Old Gajuwaka, Kurmannapalem, Pendurthi, and Vizianagaram, operating daily at 8:00 AM and returning from IT Hills at 5:50 PM. Additional services from Dwaraka bus station and Gajuwaka are also planned for the near future. The state government will cover all transportation costs, providing much-needed relief for employees commuting to the IT Hills.
At the event, MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and MP Sribharat expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its importance in supporting IT development in the region. They emphasized the government's commitment to encouraging further growth in Visakhapatnam’s IT sector, hoping to attract more companies in the future.
This reintroduction of bus services follows appeals from the IT Association after transportation challenges arose when Visakhapatnam was designated as the executive capital under the previous government. Many IT buildings were repurposed, creating commuting difficulties for employees. The resumed services reflect the government’s dedication to nurturing the IT industry and fostering future growth in the region.
