Tribal Leader Paradani Ramana Murthy Leads Indian Scientists to Antarctica
Visakhapatnam: In a historic achievement, tribal leader Paradani Ramana Murthy from Ukkurbha Village, Tadigiri Panchayat, Hukkum Peta Mandal, is leading a team of Indian scientists on an environmental research mission to Antarctica.
Murthy, currently a scientist at the Geomagnetic Research Center in Visakhapatnam, was chosen for this prestigious role after a rigorous selection process that involved an interview with the Ministry of Health and Science in Delhi and medical evaluations at AIIMS.
In preparation for the harsh Antarctic conditions, Murthy and his team underwent intensive physical training at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police facility in Auli, Uttarakhand. His departure was met with heartfelt support from family, friends, and well-wishers from his village, who expressed immense pride in seeing a local leader take on such a significant role in scientific research.
