Fraudsters Arrested for Swindling Victims with Counterfeit Gold and Currency in Visakhapatnam
In a recent development, the Visakhapatnam police have apprehended a group of individuals involved in deceiving people through the use of fake or duplicate gold and currency.
The fraudulent scheme, which preyed on individuals seeking quick financial gains, resulted in the arrest of five suspects from Vizianagaram.
The arrested individuals, identified as Gorla Hemachandra Rao (34), Kunnuku Hemanthkumar (29), M Subbareddy (28), Danala Srinivas (34), and Janna Sunil (27), were residents of Vizianagaram, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil from Pothinamallayya Palem.
Acting on a tip-off from the Task Force, law enforcement officers apprehended the gang members on Thursday at Anandapuram. The modus operandi of the group involved enticing victims with the promise of significant financial returns in exchange for a relatively small initial investment.
The suspects, equipped with counterfeit cash, gold biscuits, coins, and necessary chemicals for fabricating fake currency, operated with the intention of persuading individuals to part with their money under false pretenses. For instance, victims would be enticed with the prospect of receiving Rs 10 lakh in exchange for a mere Rs 2 lakh investment.
The police have also detained another individual named Somesh in connection with the fraudulent activities. The swift action by law enforcement underscores the commitment to curbing financial fraud and protecting citizens from falling prey to such scams.
