GITAM MoU with LVPEI for collaborative research
GITAM Deemed to be University has entered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LVPrasad Eye Institute here on Friday to promote closer interaction between team of scientists and faculty through various research activities, joint seminars, workshops, conference. As part of MoU GITAM and LVPEI would collaborate to do joint research in the areas of eye health particularly ophthalmic sciences pertaining to ocular microbiology, pathology, epidemiology, innovation, artificial intelligence in ophthalmology, biomedical engineering, ocular genetics.
GITAM Deemed to be University Registrar Prof.D.Gunasekharan and LVPEI Network Director (Education) Dr.Avinash Pathengay exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof.K.Sivaramakrishna.
While addressing the gathering GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof.K.Sivaramakrishna said that the university is mainly focusing on multidisciplinary research activities to strengthen the knowledge base. He hoped that eye health research will reach new heights with the present MoU between the institutes.
LVPEI Network Director (Education) Dr.Avinash Pathengay informed that LVPEI is a comprehensive eye health facility, training and research institute with ten active arms to its areas of operations. He mentioned that LVPEI research activities are primarily undertaken under the supervision of Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation (HERF) and has produced more than 46 PhD graduates. He expressed that both the institutions will share expertise and resources to enhance capabilities during joint research activities.
GITAM Science Dean Prof.A.Subrahmanyam, GITAM Research and Consultancy Director Prof.Raja Phani Pappu, Prof.Sudhakar and others participated in the program.
