Golden Phase for Visakhapatnam Railway Station
The golden phase of Visakha Railway Station has begun, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. Immediately following the Prime Minister's visit to Vizag, the Railways designated Visakhapatnam as the South Coast Railway Zone. It will be modernized and redeveloped with Rs 456 crore as part of the Visakhapatnam Railway Station redevelopment project, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Anup Tripathy, Divisional Railway Manager, stated that the project will be completed in 36 months.
The Railway Department has now finalized the 52-acre site near Mudasarlova Reservoir for the South Coast Railway Zone's headquarters since it is a larger area and has good road connectivity. The Railway Ministry has allotted Rs. 106 crores for the construction of the headquarters, and tenders for construction will be notified.
The Vande Bharat Express, the country's fastest train, will now run from Vizag. It is expected to start next month between Vizag and Secunderabad, covering the distance in just 8 hours. Soon, trials will be conducted to examine the tracks.
