Greening Visakhapatnam: Terrace Gardening Awareness Campaign Takes Root

In a bid to foster the culture of terrace gardening, members of the City Terrace Garden (CTG) joined hands with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to organize an enlightening awareness campaign in Ward 8, under Zone II limits of the GVMC, in Visakhapatnam.

The dedicated members embarked on a mission to spread awareness about the benefits of 'terrace gardening' by visiting households in Yendada and Rajeev Colony.

Engaging with residents, the CTG team conducted informative meetings, elucidating the myriad advantages of embracing terrace gardening. To further encourage the initiative, they also distributed various seeds to those keen on kickstarting their own terrace gardens.

Aishwarya, the group coordinator of CTG, took the lead in educating residents about the numerous perks of terrace gardening.

Highlights included the assurance of pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, improved air quality, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, an expansion of green cover, the utilization of household waste for compost, and the creation of a sustainable, nutrient-rich solution for plant growth.

The event witnessed the presence of key figures such as Project Director of Urban Community Development (UCD) Papu Naidu, Zonal Commissioner K. Kanakamahakshmi, and others who actively supported and participated in the initiative. As the seeds of awareness were sown, the campaign aimed to cultivate a greener, healthier, and more sustainable environment for the community.
