Political activity is intensifying ahead of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections, with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) launching its ‘Save Vizag’ campaign on October 25.
Former ministers Kurasala Kannababu and Gudivada Amarnath, along with MLC and YSRCP mayoral candidate Varudu Kalyani and other party leaders, unveiled the campaign poster at the party office in Visakhapatnam.
YSRCP Targets TDP Government
Kurasala Kannababu criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s government, alleging that Visakhapatnam had not received meaningful development over the past two years. He also questioned the government’s priorities, citing events and investment summits.
Kannababu further alleged that valuable government land was being offered at nominal prices and raised concerns about the local body election process. These statements represent the YSRCP’s allegations and have not been independently established in this report.
Focus on Protecting Vizag
Gudivada Amarnath reiterated the party’s commitment to its ‘Blue Vizag’ policy. The YSRCP said its ‘Save Vizag’ campaign aims to protect the city’s land, environment and public interests.
With civic elections approaching, the campaign adds to the political contest in Visakhapatnam, as parties seek public support by highlighting their priorities and criticising their opponents.
