In a significant stride towards urban development, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has launched 813 development projects at an estimated cost of ₹185.21 crore. The announcement was made by Visakhapatnam Mayor during a press briefing, highlighting the city's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and public services.
The projects span a variety of sectors, including road construction, drainage systems, drinking water facilities, and modernization of public spaces. Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari emphasized that these initiatives aim to meet the growing demands of the city's residents while aligning with the government's vision for a sustainable and smart urban ecosystem.
A portion of the budget has been allocated to green initiatives, including the development of urban parks and tree plantation drives to mitigate the effects of climate change. Upgrades to existing infrastructure, such as widening roads and improving sanitation systems, are also key components of this massive development plan.
The GVMC has assured that all works will adhere to strict quality standards and timelines to avoid unnecessary delays. "Our focus is on improving the quality of life for Visakhapatnam's citizens by prioritizing projects that have a direct impact on their daily lives," said the Mayor.
This announcement comes amidst Visakhapatnam’s evolving role as a hub for IT, tourism, and industry. With the city's growing prominence, the GVMC’s initiatives are expected to significantly boost its infrastructure and attract more investment opportunities.
Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the development works, expressing optimism about the city's progress. The GVMC has also invited public feedback to ensure transparency and effective implementation of the projects.
These projects, once completed, are expected to not only elevate the city's infrastructure but also pave the way for a more sustainable and vibrant future for Visakhapatnam.
