Waltair Division Conducts Mock Drill to Enhance Staff Readiness for Train Emergencies
The Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) recently conducted a mock drill to evaluate the preparedness of railway staff in responding to a train derailment. The exercise was designed to test the efficiency, coordination, and response time of the railway personnel in handling emergency situations.
The mock drill, carried out at a designated site, simulated a realistic train derailment scenario, allowing railway officials, medical teams, and emergency response units to practice rescue operations. The primary goal was to identify potential gaps in the current disaster management protocols and ensure quick response mechanisms in case of real-life incidents.
During the drill, teams were deployed to evacuate passengers, provide first aid, and restore railway operations with minimal delays. Senior railway officials, including safety inspectors and emergency response coordinators, supervised the activity and provided valuable insights to improve efficiency.
A major focus of the drill was on passenger safety, medical aid, and technical recovery of the derailed coaches. Firefighters, medical professionals, and railway engineers collaborated to ensure that the procedures were executed with precision and speed. The use of modern rescue tools, along with effective communication strategies, played a key role in the success of the exercise.
Railway authorities emphasized the importance of such drills in ensuring zero casualty incidents during actual emergencies. They also reassured passengers that the railway is continuously working towards strengthening safety measures to prevent accidents and improve response strategies.
