Healthy beverages to keep yourself hydrated this summer

The body needs to stay hydrated, especially in the heat. With the sweltering heat, we can't live without our cool drinks, and as much as we enjoy our iced coffees and thick smoothies, water is a must. It offers other advantages in addition to keeping our bodies hydrated.

What better way to remain hydrated while sipping on a delicious drink than water-based beverages?
It will refresh your body while also satisfying your taste senses.
And your beverage will undoubtedly be nutritious, thanks to these wonderful additives! Infused water will cool your body, hydrate it, add flavour and give you the benefits of the ingredients in the water.

This summer, treat yourself with these easy and refreshing water-based beverages:

#1 Lemon Water

The goodness of refreshing lemon is what we need to beat the summer heat. Lemon water is the best way to keep yourself hydrated. It is an absolute desi favourite and relishing drink, and it is super easy to make. Squeeze out a lemon in some water and add sugar to it as per your taste.

#2 Cucumber Water

An easy and quick water-infused beverage that is perfect to beat the heat and keep your body hydrated. Cucumber is a great ingredient that keeps your body cool and nourished. It is refreshing and has a lot of benefits. You can also add mint to the drink, which will eventually boost your hydration energy, and top it up with some salt.

#3 Watermelon Water

Summers are all about seasonal fruits, and watermelon is the best summer fruit that we all need to pass through the scorching heat. Dice up the watermelon, and add some thinly sliced ginger to a jar of water. This drink has anti-inflammatory properties, which are hugely beneficial. Enjoy your summer with this drink!

#4 Coconut Water

A refreshing glass of coconut water can amp up the spirits and keep the heat away. Coconut water is a great way to replace lost electrolytes and keep your body hydrated. Begin your day with a glass of coconut water to keep yourself refreshed and hydrated throughout the day.

#5 Rose Lemon Strawberry Water

It is very refreshing and loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants. The strawberries add a subtle sweetness to the water, and the tang of lemon balances the taste. Fill a jug with water, add halved strawberries, rose petals and sliced lemon to the water and set it to cool overnight in a refrigerator. The drink can be strained or consumed directly as per choice.

#6 Jasmine Water

Jasmine water, a traditional Thai drink, has cooling benefits for the body. Jasmine is known as the queen of flowers. It promotes heart health and improves digestion. The best way to make Jasmine infused water is to clean the flowers, dunk them in a jar of water and cool it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Make sure you don't leave them overnight, or it will add that grassy taste to the water.

#7 Chia Water

Chia seeds hydrate the body while cutting out the boring aspect of drinking water. Chia water also gives you more energy in comparison to caffeine and sugar. It has a water-absorbent shell and soluble fibre, which keeps you full for a more extended period and provides antioxidants to the body. To make this hydrating chia water drink, soak one tablespoon of chia seeds in a glass of water for about 10-20 minutes, and it's ready. You can add in lemon or mint for a bit more flavour.
