Heavy Rains Disrupt Visakhapatnam, Shed Collapse Injures One
Visakhapatnam: Heavy rains, triggered by the northeast monsoon and a low-pressure system, have battered Visakhapatnam for the past 24 hours, causing widespread disruption. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported 6 cm of rainfall in Visakhapatnam and 3.3 cm in Bheemili on Thursday.
The downpour caused a tin shed to collapse in Kongapalem, Gajuwaka, injuring 45-year-old Nakka Ramakrishna Reddy.
Fortunately, no other major incidents were reported.
Severe waterlogging affected areas like Poorna Market, Gnanapuram, MVP Colony, and Gajuwaka. Residents on hillocks fear potential landslides. The IMD has forecast more thundershowers over the next three days, with a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal by October 22.
