Hoax Bomb Threat Delays Hyderabad-Vizag IndiGo Flight

An IndiGo flight (6E 409) from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam experienced a two-and-a-half-hour delay on Monday following a hoax bomb threat.
The threat disrupted the flight’s onward journey to Mumbai from Visakhapatnam International Airport.
The alarm was raised shortly after the plane departed Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad at 1:22 pm, with the flight arriving in Visakhapatnam at its scheduled time of 2:31 pm. A post on social media alerted Hyderabad airport management, claiming a bomb had been planted on the aircraft.
In response, Visakhapatnam airport authorities prepared for a thorough security check. A bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs conducted an extensive inspection of the plane upon its arrival, but no suspicious items were found. After clearance, the flight (6E 5247) was permitted to proceed to Mumbai at 5:07 pm.
An official from RGIA police station reported that bomb threats were issued for 62 flights across the country that day, all of which were found to be false. Each flight landed safely.
Visakhapatnam International Airport Director Raja Reddy affirmed that strict protocols were followed to ensure passenger safety. “The Hyderabad-Vizag-Mumbai flight was inspected as per protocol and cleared for departure,” he said.
In a statement, IndiGo assured that all necessary safety protocols were implemented, highlighting that customer and crew safety remain their top priority and thanking passengers for their patience.
