Vizianagaram Collector Implements Strict Guidelines for Firecracker Sales Ahead of Diwali

Visakhapatnam: In preparation for the Diwali festival, Vizianagaram District Collector B. R. Ambedkar has issued comprehensive guidelines to ensure safe and regulated fireworks sales. The announcement came during a video conference with district officials, including RDOs and Tehsildars.

Emphasizing safety and compliance, the Collector stated, "No shop will be allowed to operate without proper authorization." He highlighted that licenses for fireworks vendors would be granted only after thorough inspections conducted jointly by revenue, police, and fire department officials.

To enhance safety and manage sales effectively, the Collector has ordered the establishment of multiple authorized selling points throughout the city, moving away from a single sales location. "We are considering three to four designated areas within the city," he explained, with final locations to be determined by a team consisting of the RDO, DSP, and District Fire Officer after a careful evaluation.

The Collector issued a stern warning that officials who approve vendors not adhering to safety standards will be held accountable for any resulting accidents or explosions. "There will be zero tolerance for violations of safety regulations," he stressed.

During the same meeting, the Collector addressed additional civic issues, including an ongoing sanitation drive in villages. He directed officials to extend the special sanitation campaign through the end of the month due to complaints regarding inadequate waste management in certain areas.

The forum also reviewed 220 public petitions, with the majority - 161 - pertaining to the Revenue Department. Other departments that received grievances included the DRDA, Zilla Panchayat Office, and Municipal Corporation.
