Impending Cyclonic Threat Forces Potential Reschedule of Op Demo in Vizag Amidst IN's HADR Preparedness
Visakhapatnam: The Indian Navy is closely monitoring a developing low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, anticipated to intensify into Cyclonic Storm 'Michaung' and make landfall along the Eastern coast between North Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on December 3rd and 4th.
In response, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has elevated its personnel and platforms to a high state of readiness, poised to execute Humanitarian Relief and Disaster Relief Operations (HADR) as needed.
With the impending cyclone's safety implications for numerous spectators, naval assets, and personnel engaged in the elaborate naval demonstrations scheduled for 'Navy Day' celebrations, certain activities such as Op Demo and the C-in-C's 'at-home' function in Visakhapatnam may be rescheduled contingent on the evolving weather conditions.
Simultaneously, all Naval Area Commanders have initiated preparatory measures to minimize the cyclone's impact. They are in continuous coordination with state administrations to provide assistance promptly when required.
As part of the proactive preparedness, flood relief teams and diving units stand by to bolster existing resources.
Indian Naval ships, equipped with Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) capabilities, diving teams, and medical personnel, are on standby to offer aid in the potentially affected areas along the East Coast.
To facilitate swift response, naval aircraft are on standby at Naval Air Stations, including INS Dega in Visakhapatnam and INS Rajali near Chennai.
These aircraft are ready for aerial surveys, casualty evacuations, and airdropping relief materials as per the evolving needs of the situation.
