Integrated Data Park and Centre in Vizag to Boost the Digital Economy and Create Employment Opportunities

The Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stated that the Adani Group is undertaking a project to build an integrated data center park in Visakhapatnam, which is expected to transform the way the city looks and operates in the future. The project involves bringing a submarine cable from Singapore to Visakhapatnam, which will be made possible by the Adani Group. The cable will connect the city to the rest of the world and allow for high-speed data transfers. The data centre park will be built on a 409-acre site close to Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam, with 130 acres of land already purchased by Adani Group for this purpose.

The development of this integrated data centre park in Visakhapatnam is expected to have a significant impact on the city's growth and development. The project is expected to transform the city from a Tier 2 city to a Tier 1 city with improved connectivity and internet speeds. The data centre park will be equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure, making it an ideal location for companies and businesses to establish their presence. This is likely to attract significant investment to the region, creating job opportunities and boosting the local economy, he added.

He laid the foundation stone for a 300-MW integrated data park in Visakhapatnam. The project aims to transform the city's IT sector, connectivity, internet usage, and data speed. The park will occupy 130 acres of land and will be developed using 100% renewable energy at an investment outlay of Rs 21,800 crore. The Adani Group is set to invest Rs 21,844 crore in a 200-MW integrated data centre, technology, and business park in Madhurawada and an additional Rs 7,210 crore in a 100-MW integrated data centre, technology, and business park in Kapuluppada. These projects are expected to provide direct employment opportunities to approximately 40,000 people and will be developed using green energy.

The facility will consist of an IT development park, an IT skill development centre, and a recreational hub, leveraging cloud services to boost the digital economy. These data centres will act as digital embassies, connected through a network of undersea cables originating from Southeast Asia and landing in proximity to the ports in the state. Moreover, the project is expected to transform Visakhapatnam, further boosting the IT sector and promoting digitalization. The new data centre will not only provide direct and indirect employment opportunities but also aid in the development of a sustainable digital ecosystem, with the entire power coming from renewable sources.

According to the Chief Minister, the projects are expected to provide 39,815 direct employment opportunities and 10,610 indirect employment opportunities. Rajesh Adani, who heads the energy vertical of the Adani Group, appreciated the state government's decentralised development and volunteer system, affirming that the group will provide both direct and indirect employment through the facility.
