Intense Clash of Commandos in Visakhapatnam
A unique and intense competition is happening in Visakhapatnam, where elite police commandos from 16 states and seven paramilitary forces are battling for supremacy.
It's not your usual competition; it goes beyond the regular tests of endurance, agility, and bravery. Organized by the Andhra Pradesh government, the 14th All India Police Commando Competition is pushing the limits of these commandos.
The competition involves various challenges, and one of the toughest is the Battle Obstacle Assault Course (BOAC). In this segment, commandos undergo a grueling 1.20 km cross-country run and navigate through 19 obstacles, testing their skills and stamina.
The obstacles include challenges like monkey crawl, double rope crawl, sapper swing, and more.
Each commando has to complete these tasks within a 12-minute timeframe, and it's no easy feat.
Following the cross-country run, the commandos face additional challenges, such as navigating more obstacles and completing a 2.4-km cross-country group task within eight minutes.
They carry personal baggage, assault rifles, and even an injured man on a stretcher during these tasks.
After a brief rest interval, the commandos proceed to the firing range, where their agility and marksmanship are rigorously tested.
The firing exercises include shooting moving targets with assault rifles and pistols, engaging combat targets, and more. The entire firing competition has to be completed within eight minutes.
Other tasks in the competition include urban warfare, explosives detection and defusal, briefing and debriefing, room intervention, and raids. Teams must accomplish all these tasks within a total of 86 minutes.
This clandestine competition, hosted within the Greyhounds facility, showcases the incredible skills and capabilities of these commandos and will conclude on January 30 (Tuesday).
