JV Ratnam Honored with National Environmental Change Maker Award
Cochin, Kerala – JV Ratnam, a dedicated environmentalist and founder secretary of the Green Climate Team NGO, was awarded the prestigious National Environmental Change Maker Award by Rotary International. The award was presented by Rotary International President Stephen Urchik during the third-day program of the Rotary organization's gathering in Cochin on Sunday morning.
This award recognizes Ratnam’s 36 years of relentless efforts to protect the environment. Urchik commended Ratnam’s work, stating it has brought meaningful changes globally. She emphasized the need for continued efforts in environmental conservation and highlighted Rotary's commitment to spreading greenery and supporting initiatives like Ratnam's.
Urchik also stressed the importance of large-scale programs, such as seed ball campaigns, to combat the effects of climate change. She detailed the environmental programs run by Rotary International, which encourage and empower individuals and organizations to make a difference in their communities.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Rotary International President Nominee Sangh Ko Yun, Director Convener Anirudh Roy Chaudhary, Future Director Murugu Nandan, Past Governor Sandeep Agarwal, and other jury members. Prominent environmentalists such as Ajay Gupta, Rajamohan Nair, and Saurabh Sonvala also participated, expressing their support for Ratnam’s exceptional contribution to environmental protection.
